Lima

We arrived in Lima with a nasty hangover each, after indulging in way too many Pisco sours the previous night in Santiago. Was a bit of a shock to the system when we got in a taxi to our hostel and the driver made sure we hid our bags, locked all our doors and then explained that people just come up to the window, smash the glass and grab bags. We were papping our pants the whole journey, but thankfully arrived safe and sound and crashed out. We spent 2 days in Lima (long enough), did the usual tourist spots, the highlight being the San Francisco convent which has a series of catacombs below it with the graves of some 70,000 locals (nothing sinister, this was the grave yard until the early 1800´s when a proper cemetery was created). Really spooky looking at all the bones, especially they have been laid out to look like works of art. Macabre yes, but fascinating. We also visited a pre-inca pyramid site right in the heart of Lima, but to be honest it was a bit pap.
