Nara

Went to Nara today. Yet another beautiful place to visit, there is a huge park (Nara Park) which is full to the brim of tamed deer, the cheeky little chaps just come right up to you (looking for grub) and are not shy about letting you know that they are hungry (they bum rush you). They are so friendly as you'll see below.


Lots and lots of temples (surprise surprise), so guess what we checked some out. Firstly we went to Kofukuji Temple (just 'cause it was closet to the train station) nothing really to report again as we've become so templed out that unless there is something really special then i won't even go into it. Headed into Nara Park and then onto Kasuga Great Shrine (nothing special to report there either i'm afraid). But then we went to Todaji Temple and wow what a bad boy this temple is. It's the largest wooden structure in the world and houses an enormous Buddha inside (the pics won't do either the temple nor the Buddha justice in terms of scale but check them out anyways). It really was something special to see and both me and Jacq's came away from it with a warm and fuzzy feeling.



Got back into Kyoto and fed ourselves - we finally cracked and hunted down some "western food". Surprise, surprise Jacquie went for potatoes (spiced mind) while I settled for some BBQ ribs, deep fried chicken and some spicy sausage washed down with a couple of beers (me) and a few glasses of vino (Jacq's). Nice and just what we needed
