Jacquie And Al's World Tour

Here you'll find the latest ramblings as I travel the world with my other half Jacquie. God only know's what wonderful sights we'll see, what fanastic diseases we'll catch (i'm personally hoping for avian flu), life altering experiences etc etc. So stay tuned as the adventure unfolds. Oh and for some fun, you can also interact with us as we travel with a version of "Where's Wally?" called "Where's Bear ?" On some pictures a little yellow bear might appear. Can you see him ?

Arrived in the land of the rising sun

Well we've arrived safe and sound in Tokyo. Both myself and Jacquie had our own individual scares before we even got to London, my treat was getting told by BA that my flight from Edi to LHR had been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions in London and then having to frantically get another flight sorted out at 7 in the morning - always a great way to start any trip. Still we made it and met up in London with a few minutes to spare.

The trip from Tokyo airport was as you would expect full of "lost in translation" moments, with us looking like a couple of idiots in our backpacks, maps in our hands, looks on our faces of total bewilderment. Still we managed to get the 3 trains that we needed to get using a combination of hand gestures, broken english and head nodding. The feeling of actually finding our hostel first time was immense and it was nice to come into our room and be greeted with a collection of Japanese porn videos (see the picture - Turtle I assume you'll be booking a flight asap ;-) ) i'm sure this will be the first of many cultural differences we'll encounter.

A few hours sleep and we were out for some local food. As you would expect nothing was in english on the menu, so a lot of pointing and praying (again more head nodding) and we got our bellys filled.

Nothing much else to report at this stage, not sure what we're going to do today (Electric city perhaps - woo hoo).

Later
