Finally, some photos online and a quick update

Hello, long time no post eh ? Well we can only apologise for the no updates on the blog for so long. Basically getting internet access in Oz to be able to upload pictures is difficult plus we've been busy doing stuff of course. Anyhow you'll see below that we've thrown up some blog entries going back to when we left Christchurch, sadly there is no pictures in the blog but we have uploaded all the latest pics to our flickr account (to get to them just click the Photos link on the right hand side under links). While in Brisbane we went to a Koala bear sanctuary where I got to cuddle a Koala as well as see lots of new animals and of course the Kangaroos. The place was excellent and we spent all day there, oohing and aahing over the cute little fella's. Brisbane was a really nice city and the weather while we were there was superb which is so nice. But after 4 days in Brisbane we decided we needed a proper beach so Jacquie let me in a little secret place that she knew about - Stradbroke Island.


Stradbroke Island or "Straddie" to the locals, is the 2nd largest sand island in the world and it's just a 45 min ferry from Brisbane. Only 3,000 people live on the island and because it's winter the place is currently deserted, now when I say winter it's like a summer in Scotland at the moment, so we basically have this massive beach, warm sea and not a cloud in the sky and it's being shared with only about 10 people - it's amazing. We were only going to stay for 3 days but have now been here for a week cause it's so nice. Met a nice guy called Matt, who took me for a surfing lesson. What a blast that was, although I never managed to stand up on the board but I got a taste for it - i'll be trying it again in Noosa where the waves are bigger. The other night we had a beach bonfire on with some other people we've hooked up with while here - Craig, Matt and Alex. That was a fantastic night, cooking spuds in the fire, foraging for wood at night time, having some beers with an ipod and a little speaker for sound. While we were there some local Ozzies turned up with a couple of guitars and jsut joined in, hilarious and such good fun.


We're leaving here tomorrow to head back to Brisbane and then further up the east coast to Noosa and then eventually Cairns.
