Blenheim - Wine tasting area

We had to get a ferry from the north island to the south island today, the crossing is beautiful because you have to sail through fiords where the trees reach right down to the ocean. We got a bus from Picton to Blenheim. We had checked into a lovely backpackers/lodge and it has been the best room so far, we had a TV (wow, even though the TV is crap in NZ), ensuite our own semi private kitchen it was fab except the owner was an ignorant git.

We did do a wine tour here, we managed 6 wineries in 3 hrs. There was another irish couple, a scottish guy and his english rose - so a good crew to go drinking for the afternoon with. We went to Dryland, Cloudy bay, Mudhouse, Bladen, Framingham, and Seresin which was Al's fave (Al here the Seresin estate is owned by the famous cinematographer Michael Seresin {he did Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkahban} and by a fluke he was there, so I was asking him about his latest film - it's remake of Fame would you believe. I could have spoken to him for hours but he had to go, still really cool to meet him). So we all managed to be pissed as farts by the end of it. We bought a bottle of Pinot Gris which is famous in this part of the world - a little pricey for our budget but we managed to find the pennies.
