August - Fringe Festival

The fringe festival has just finished here in Edinburgh, it’s was the 60th Edinburgh Festival Fringe, it is officially the largest arts festival in the world. Anyone can perform at the Fringe as it's an open arts festival. There was a wide variety of shows to see. We ended up going to about 8 shows in total, all comedy which we loved.

Air Show

We also attended an airshow which was brilliant, I do have a secret thing for airshows not sure where it comes from. Our friend Spurtle has actually flown a "Lightening" in South Africa he paid a hell of alot of money to do it but it was a dream come true for him. Go Go Cpt Spurtle.

Animals BBQ - 26/08

Al’s friend Spurtle aka turtle aka John suggested we have a BBQ in the country side to which we all agreed was a good idea all we had to do was pick the weekend and pray that the weather would be nice, and of course also decide where in the scottish countryside we would have it. Al used to spend his childhood in a tiny country village called “Garvald” and wanted it to be close by, so we ended up having our barbie in the Lammermuir Hills which are very picturesque and lovely, the weather was good but the day did not start off good. The place was picked, the food was purchased we were all set up with our blankets, footballs, frisbee the lot.

Spurtle had to remember one thing which was the bbq units and what do you think happened?? Yes spurtle forgot the one thing that was needed for a successful BBQ, but all was not lost spurtle had to go back home to get the bbq units and then try and find us in the lammermuir hills, fun or what! It turned out to be an excellent day and we all survived the food without been ill.

Mela Festival - 01/09

We attended the Mela Festival. The Edinburgh Mela was founded in 1995 by members of the city's Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi communities. Its objective is to reflect and celebrate Scotland's cultural diversity, while retaining its roots in the South Asian communities. We really went to this to get some tasty food took us awhile to decided what to get as there was so much choice.

Archie

We also went to the Cat and Dog home and rescued a cat, his name is “Archie” he is about 2 yrs old and he is a white and tabby cat with lots of character he has blue-ish eyes and comes across abit mental some times but he is funny and we are delighted to have him.

Fireworks - 02/09

To mark the end of the fringe festival more than 100,000 fireworks were used to illuminate the skyline against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. They used 4.5 tonnes of explosives, with over 150 firing sequences and up to 200 fireworks in each sequence. This of course was all done with live music from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and lasted 45 minutes. It was amazing to watch.
